JANICE MASON STEEVES

Currently residing in Rockwood, Ontario, Janice Mason Steeves left the fields of clinical and school psychology to focus solely on painting. In her work, Steeves explores the balance between light and dark, play and restraint. Her larger oil pieces have a quiet, intimate character, almost like light filtered through panes of glass; while Steeves works on paper are inspired by Japanese Enso painters, more centered and focused. All of her work has a taste of metaphysical energy pulsing through it. With a clear, controlled use of color, each piece captures the eye with its subliminal structure— a meditative beauty just below the threshold of consciousness.
