Growing up swimming in The Great Lakes and public pools in the Cleveland area, Kristen Martincic currently resides in Columbia, Missouri. From small scale to impressively large, Kristen uses a broad range of traditional print techniques, including monotype and 3 plate etching with aquatint to relief methods and lithography. Her most recent prints, sculptureS, and installationS explore the connection between the body and water. With undertones of longing and even awkwardness, she uses bathing suits, swimming pools and sea-scape color palettes to reveal the fine line between public and private, intimacy and exposure, skin and clothing. Pushing at the definitions of privacy and modesty, Martincic forces the viewer to examine their own self-awareness and what lies beneath the surface.
