2017 Late Summer Exhibit

Marni Gable was an art educator before pursuing her MFA in ceramics at the University of Missouri, which she completed in 2015. Though she is new to Sager Braudis Gallery, locals may have had the privilege of seeing her thesis exhibit in her culminating semester, featuring expressive gures beautifully rendered with decorative surface design. In her newest work, Gable branches out to the form of the companion dog, exploring and testing our notion of the soul, and allow- ing the canine form as much expressive power as that of her human gures. The imagery of space - deep, sparkling, and unknown - stands for the afterlife, as the artist invites us to consider the ultimate destination of the souls of our animals and ourselves.
